Anderson received lots of praise for her bold decision to go makeup-free last year. In August 2023, she shared with ELLE that her perspective on beauty shifted after her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, passed away from breast cancer in 2019.

The actress explained: “[Alexis] was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup.”

She added that the change has been “freeing, fun, and a little rebellious.”

Anderson noted: “Because I noticed that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite of what everyone’s doing.”

Anderson has openly embraced her choice to stop putting on makeup, though she insists it wasn’t meant to send a political message.

“It wasn’t to make a political statement,” Anderson told Allure earlier this year. “I just wanted to have my little weird face sticking out of the top of those great clothes…why am I playing the game?”

Reflecting on her makeup-free moment at Paris Fashion Week, she shared a humorous story about people not noticing her barefaced.

“And the funny thing was I would come back from the shows wearing all these clothes and a big funny hat and everything, and there were all these paparazzi,” Anderson recalled.

In a chat with Variety, Anderson shared an intimate detail about her life ahead of receiving the Zurich’s Golden Eye Award at the Zurich Film Festival.

According to the actress, she fell into a deep depression that lasted for decades after her appearance in the iconic “Baywatch” series. She also claimed that she has little to no memory of that period in her life, with the years blurring together until her 2022 debut on Broadway.

“I look at it now and it feels like I went from ‘Baywatch’ to Broadway,” she told the outlet. “I don’t know what happened in between, it’s all a big blur. I am just happy to be here, in this moment, because I think I have had depression for a couple of decades.”

Now, it is all about the positives for Anderson, as she expressed her gratitude for being honored with the prestigious award.

She said, “I never thought I would be on stage, receiving an award like that. I just want to keep working. I am excited to do more.”
