The Former Couple’s Divorce Was Delayed Due To Financial Disputes
The prolonged divorce process stemmed from Hughes’ plans to invest $300,000 of his personal funds, obtained through stock transfers, into a real estate project in Woodward, Oklahoma, as revealed in court documents shared by The Blast.
The investment was intended to purchase storage facilities, and Hughes pledged to assume full liability for any loans and capital gain taxes related to the stock transfer. This ensured that Bush would bear no financial burden from his venture.
However, the couple clashed over the validity of their “Unity Agreement,” with Bush arguing its enforceability and Hughes disputing its legitimacy. Despite the disagreements, Hughes assured he would maintain financial stability post-investment.

Grant Hughes Requested Spousal Support Be Denied
Another key issue in their divorce proceeding was Hughes’s request to deny spousal support to Bush, which hinted at potential complications surrounding their shared property.
In his response to the court, Hughes admitted he was unclear about the full extent of their joint property and pledged to update the court once he had a complete understanding. In his own words:
“At such time as he believes he is aware of the full extent and description of community and quasi-community property, he will either seek leave of Court to amend this Response and/or file further pleadings identifying the community and quasi-community property.”
Hughes also requested that both parties equally share legal fees, a proposal Bush agreed to, demonstrating a willingness to move the process forward.
