The golf-themed mockery’s origins can be traced back to the June 27 presidential debate between Trump and Biden.
The Blast noted that moderator Dana Bash’s question to both candidates about the public’s concerns regarding their age sparked barbs.
In his response, Trump boasted about his cognitive abilities, mentioning that he had taken multiple cognitive tests during his presidency. After suggesting that Biden should take an “easy” test, he stated:
“I just won two club championships this year. Not even senior, Two regular club championships. To do that, you have to be quite smart, and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way, and I do it. He [Biden] doesn’t do it. He can’t hit a ball 5o yards. He challenged me to a golf match… he can’t hit a ball 50 yards.”

Biden, refusing to back down took a swing at Trump’s golf claims, pointing out that he had managed to reduce his golf handicap to six during his time as vice president.

After the highly anticipated showdown on the debate stage hosted by CNN, the first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and incumbent President Joe Biden ended with a clear perception among viewers that Trump had the upper hand.
CNN, in partnership with SSRS, conducted a poll among registered voters who tuned in to watch the debate. The results were resounding: 63% of debate watchers believed that Trump outperformed Biden.
This sentiment was particularly strong among Republican viewers, with an overwhelming 96% expressing that Trump did a better job compared to only 69% of Democratic viewers who felt Biden won.
The debate largely centered on issues of leadership, policies, and each candidate’s ability to handle the presidency.

A significant 85% of GOP watchers felt that Trump effectively addressed concerns raised during the debate, whereas 53% of viewers supporting Biden thought he did a better job on these fronts.
Interestingly, despite the perceived victory for Trump, the majority of debate watchers, about 81%, indicated that the debate did not sway their decision on who to support in the upcoming election.
However, 14% admitted that while it made them reconsider, it ultimately did not change their choice, while 5% revealed that the debate caused them to switch their allegiance to a different candidate.
