Justin Timberlake Seals A Plea Deal In His DWI Case

Justin Timberlake seems to have the best guardian angel as he is getting off his DWI case with a slap on the wrist.

The Prince of Pop was arrested in June for driving while intoxicated, but thanks to a plea deal, he will not be charged for the crime. Instead, prosecutors agreed to hold him accountable for a traffic violation.

Justin Timberlake’s arrest made waves for several reasons, with the singer refusing to plead guilty while his driving privileges were temporarily suspended.

According to new reports, Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., and prosecutors recently got the judge presiding over the DWI case to sign off on their plea deal. Per their agreement, the DWI charge has officially been dropped.

Instead, Timberlake got slapped with a Driving While Ability Impaired charge. The word “impaired” did not make the crime a drunk driving offense, and the singer only has to pay a fine of about $300 to $500.

TMZ reported that the judge is expected to announce the fine in a hearing on Friday when the plea deal is officially before the court. Timberlake’s driver’s license remains suspended in New York because he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

A month before his DWI charge was dismissed, prosecutors served the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, New York, with a subpoena for evidence. The Blast noted the venue was dragged into the case because Timberlake drank there hours before his arrest.

According to prosecutors, the subpoena was to collect information from the hotel about Timberlake’s drinking. They wished to check if the venue’s narrative would match the singer’s claims about the night of his arrest.

He reportedly told the police officers who pulled him over that he had only “one martini.” The hotel’s version of what happened that night was crucial in determining how much Timberlake drank.
