The gruesome scene was so shocking that investigators initially suspected a possible mob connection, according to the Los Angeles Times.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n “The bodies were distorted,” former Beverly Hills police captain and murder investigator, Russ Olson said on an episode of the true-crime documentary, ‘Snapped.’ “They had no resemblance of what you would expect a human being to look like.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Article continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jos\u00e9 was shot at point-blank range in the back of the head, receiving three additional shots to his arms and legs. It wasn\u2019t until months later that the brothers were arrested for the killings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Ultimately, Erik and Lyle were convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. They were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and are currently serving their sentences at the Richard J.
